SPJ Board Meeting Minutes
Goals:
Determine dates for monthly chapter meetings
Determine dates for executive meetings
Draft constitutions/bylaws
Discuss social media/ marketing strategy
Discuss convocation strategy
Misc. organization
Attendance:
Camilla Forte, President
Julia Greene, Vice President
Mari Devereaux, Secretary
Board Meetings:
-one before, one after chapter meeting
-video meeting in between
-executive board meetings 1st and 4th Wednesday of the month
General Meetings:
-1x per month chapter meetings on Fridays between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
-2nd Friday of the month
Bylaws/constitution:
-add in Columbia requirements
Election/ Voting Procedures
-Yearly vote: end of the semester
-self nomination
-election procedure: ballot, have candidates say why they would be a good fit, google form/survey monkey
-september of fall semester new officers start form
Impeachment:
-email advisor, advisor moderation, chapter vote final say, special election
Officers: standard
-SOC rep- cami
-alternate = julia
-if someone quits, special election
Quorum:
-two officers present, half of organization
Advisor: SPJ site- one year
State how Constitution goes into effect: keep the same
SPJ Promotion:
-keep making posts/talking to people
-freshman journalism classes- sharon bloyd-peshkin, menke, jackie spinner, elio leturia
-figure out who can go to what classes to promote SPJ
-get professors to allow us to talk in their classes
-look at other journalism classes
Convocation Strategy:
-share table with Chronicle and NABJ
-sign-up strategy
-make buttons, give if follow us on insta
-give other methods of contact- email, social media
-cardboard backing of buttons have other information

Miscellaneous:
-download columbia app and slack
-if contact any faculty cc spj email
-official logo, once have the intention of applying
-once start filling out SOC recognition form
-helen animation
-figure out if you can go to classes
-availability for classes doc
